Switching Contexts

DevFlow’s context switcher is located in the sidebar. It shows which workspace you are currently in and lets you switch between your personal context and any organizations you belong to.

Click the context switcher to see all available contexts:

  • Personal — Your private workspace
  • Organization A — One of your organizations (shown with the org name and logo)
  • Organization B — Another organization, if you belong to more than one

Select a context to switch to it instantly.

When you are in your personal context:

  • You see only your own projects — projects you created for yourself
  • Your personal license limits apply (flow limits, feature availability)
  • You manage your own settings and preferences
  • No compliance rules are enforced unless you configure them yourself
  • This is your private space that no one else can see

When you switch to an organization context:

  • You see the organization’s shared projects — projects created within the org
  • The organization’s rules apply — compliance settings, Takt intervals, and other org-wide configurations
  • Your permissions are determined by your organization role (Owner, Admin, Member) and project role
  • You can collaborate with other members on shared flows, reviews, and releases
  • Time tracking follows the organization’s compliance profile

Switching between contexts is instant. When you select a different context:

  • The sidebar updates to show the relevant projects and navigation
  • The main content area refreshes to show the selected context’s data
  • Any active timers or work in progress in the previous context are preserved
  • You do not need to log out or reload the page

You can switch back and forth as often as you need throughout the day.

If you belong to several organizations — for example, as a freelancer with multiple clients — the context switcher lists all of them:

  • Each organization appears with its name and logo for easy identification
  • Switching between organizations works the same as switching between personal and org contexts
  • Each organization has its own projects, members, settings, and compliance rules
  • Your role and permissions may differ between organizations

This makes it easy to manage work across multiple teams without needing separate accounts.

Personal and organization data are completely separate:

  • Personal projects are never visible in an organization context
  • Organization projects are never visible in your personal context
  • Data from one organization is never visible in another organization
  • Time entries, flows, and all other data stay within their respective context

This separation ensures privacy and prevents accidental data leaks between workspaces. When you are in a client’s organization, you see only that client’s work — never your personal projects or another client’s data.
