Organizations

An organization is a shared workspace where teams collaborate on projects together. It provides a single place for your team to plan, build, and track work with shared visibility, consistent rules, and centralized management.

When you work alone, your personal workspace is all you need. When you work with others, an organization gives your team structure.

Every DevFlow user has two distinct contexts:

  • Personal context — Your own projects, your own license, your own rules. This is your private workspace.
  • Organization context — Shared projects, team settings, organization rules. This is your team’s workspace.

You always have both. Creating or joining an organization does not remove your personal workspace. You can switch between contexts at any time.

When you are in your personal context, you see only your own projects and manage everything according to your own preferences. When you switch to an organization context, you see the organization’s shared projects and work under the organization’s settings and compliance rules.

A single user can belong to multiple organizations. This is especially useful for freelancers and consultants who work with several clients:

  • You might be a member of Client A’s organization and Client B’s organization
  • Each organization has its own projects, settings, and compliance rules
  • You switch between them freely using the context switcher
  • Your personal workspace remains separate from all of them

Organizations unlock capabilities that go beyond personal use:

  • Shared projects — Create projects that all team members can access and contribute to
  • Team management — Invite members, assign roles, control who can do what
  • Compliance — Enforce labor law regulations like mandatory rest breaks and maximum work hours
  • Billing — Organization-level subscription plans based on team size
  • Consistent settings — Set organization-wide defaults for Takt intervals, compliance profiles, and more

Personal projects follow your own rules. Organization projects follow the organization’s rules. The two never mix — your personal data stays personal, and organization data stays within the organization.
